Senior Designer/Exhibition Detail Designer Dublin, OH

Senior Designer/Exhibition Detail Designer

Full Time • Dublin, OH

Position Description

The role of Senior Designer/Exhibition Detail Designer is to realize and bring to life concept and schematic designs for museum and entertainment brands. The position is a unique problem-solving role which weaves together the products of schematic design, in-phase prototyping, electromechanical integration, ergonomic and user-centered design development, as well as all facility integration needs specific to the project.

This role must take all aspects of the design into consideration while remaining concentrated on aesthetic construction details and finishes. The material pallet often ranges from woods, metals and plastics, and focus on elements as small as a tiny button interface, all the way up to a 2-story kinetic ball machine. The outcome from the detail phase is generally a control model and/or a set of drawings that become the repository of all design knowledge for that particular project. This is done in collaboration with other designers, engineers, fabrication specialists, developers and project managers.

Skill Requirements

  • Ability to create a great solution while balancing multiple and sometimes conflicting inputs
  • Ability to collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and structural engineers to seamlessly incorporate their individual requirements and needs into structures

  • Ability to add value to future production design by developing construction details that enhance the build quality and overall aesthetic
  • General understanding of both wood and metal fabrication techniques, finishes and fasteners

  • Work to be accomplished in Sketch-up, AutoCAD, Solidworks and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Ability to communicate and present to in-house team, and/or clients, with showmanship and excitement
  • Collaborative in a team environment and enjoys the design process of iteration and investigation as much as the final product
  • Ability to turn around quick ideation in a fast-paced environment

To be considered, we request applicants please provide a link to their portfolio/work samples. A competitive candidate will have a strong, versatile portfolio with an elevated sense of design, color and typography.
