Roto is seeking talented and eclectic designers to join our team as an Exhibit Designer. Here, you'll have the opportunity to create meaningful multisensory environments that captivate guests and leave them inspired long after they depart.

To be considered, applicants must:
 
  • Provide a portfolio/work samples demonstrating your relevant design experience.
  • Be willing to relocate to the Columbus, Ohio, area. 

Key Responsibilities
 
  • Create multisensory environments and interactives using sound, light, media, vibration, and the innate human sense of playfulness for ages 2 to 102.
  • Design custom interactive and immersive environments, blending A/V, media technology, graphics, and cutting-edge electromechanical user inputs.
  • Organize and develop exhibition floor plans that create a bespoke visitor journey, in flat CAD and 3D model form.
  • Collaborate with others to invent engaging physical encounters with science, art, history and/or nature content, leveraging human emotions like humor, curiosity, pathos and drama to deliver a memorable experience.
  • Develop an original design language that seamlessly integrates interiors, structures, graphics, and theming, from concept to engineered detail drawings for fabrication.
  • Assist Roto’s production department in the physical construction, fabrication, assembly, and installation of the exhibits you design.
  • Collaborate with Roto’s immersive media department to implement highly imaginative, interactive technology-based experiences, including those using gesture sensing, VR/AR, AI, and other leading technologies.
 
Qualifications:

  • Mastery of Adobe Suite, Sketchup, AutoCAD, and Microsoft applications.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in design, architecture, or a related field.
  • Experience in exhibit design, immersive experiences, or related fields preferred.
  • Fearless creativity and a knack for solving complex design challenges.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively convey your ideas and collaborate with your team.
  • Driven by growth, fueled by passion, and dedicated to crafting experiences that captivate and inspire.

  • Writing, research and project management skills are a plus
